I am trying to find a source for a carbide file guide for a knife that will have a 2.5" wide blade at the attachment point of the tang.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

George I would contact Al Lawrence at Riverside Machine. He can probably make you one. His number is:

"USA Knife Maker's Supply" Has one for around $50. It is their "magnum file guide" and fits blades up to 2.5 inches.

Just noticed you are looking for carbide, and this one is O1. I have been using it for some time though and it shows no sign of wear. I think the Riverside guide is probably nicer but the cost is three times more. Unless you have a need for the carbide I would consider it.

Talked to Bruce today and ordered a 3" stainless steel file guide. Again I have met another ABS member and it was like talking to an old time friend. I am really enjoying all the ABS related folks I meet. Every one is so helpful and willing to share what they know!

If you need a file guide you better jump in and let Krista know at [email protected]

Everyone thanks for the help.

Happy Holidays and Regards,

George

My file guide came in just before I left for the 3 day class with Jason Knight and what a beautiful tool it is. Made out of stainless steel and carbide a real value for the money. One of my best looking tools.

I now need to try it out!
