2015 International Master Smith Knife of the Year by Kevin Harvey, MS - Belfast, South Africa

The American Bladesmith Society is proud to present the 2015 International Master Smith Knife of the Year by Master Smith Kevin Harvey from Belfast, South Africa. This Indo-Persian Dagger is full tang construction from Kevin’s “Persian Lace” Damascus, a twisted, mosaic, 4-bar composite, forged to shape. The steels used are K460 (01), 1084, 5160, 15N20 and K600 (L6). The nickel silver bolsters were engraved by Kevin in a fine floral pattern. It has carved nickel silver pins and flower washers and file-worked nickel silver liners in a “vine” pattern. The handle has colored and stabilized giraffe shin bone slabs.

The knife case was donated by Brian Coetzee, www.briancoetzeeboxmaker.co.za. The case lid is crafted with Wild Olive with side panels of Snakebean and inlays of African Blackwood and Sneezewood. The fabric lining in the case is from a Kashmiri shawl made in India.

The knife comes with a certificate signed by Kevin Harvey.

This "Persian Lace" Damascus, Indo-Persian dagger will be available on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the ABS Knife Auction during the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA. For more information on the 2015 ABS Knife Auction please visit the ABS Website at www.americanbladesmith.com

The Harvey's are an inspiration. I'm amazed at the hard work and generosity they are exhibiting in behalf of the ABS. What a great example of tireless zeal for us here in the states.

Being able to share this with the world is just why the ABS should support and encourage a strong internet presence.
