One of my child hood friends is a rancher and I would like to make him a knife that will do all the tasks a rancher has to do on a daily basis. Need a knife design that will cut baler twine, cut tape and most other farm packaging. I am thinking a smaller blade or 2 to 3 inch long as not to get caught up when crawling through fences and such but just trying to figure out what would be the best profile. I know it will have to a design that will take the abuse of daily chores and will need to stand up to a certain amount of abuse. I would appreciate any input on the style of knife that other makers have made that work for a ranchers lifestyle.
Thanks in advance
Kelly
You just described a box knife. No, I'm not being my usual smart ass, a while ago, I decided to forge a blade for use around the shop. After I got done, I looked at it and realized I had made a stout box knife.
