By studying Karl's knives and videos, I started my first and second take downs. Thank you Karl, this is fun. One is a frame handle , the other is a thru tang. Neither is finished, going slowly. My question is ... when you sell a take-down, is it customary to make and give the tools to the customer ? I don't like the idea of customers fumbling with 2-56 screws or the chance of cross threading something. Also, I've noticed you don't use any thread locking compound, I'm a life long auto tech and always worry about vibration causing loosening. Ever any problem ?

Sigh, I like making the take downs. BUT am constantly worried about the customer messing it up by fidgeting with taking it apart and back together. I do supply the tools, but also provide a very serious warning that messing it up by taking apart and putting it back together wrong is not covered under a warranty.

I was introduced to the take-down assembly in 1998. When I started showing them on Blade Forums around 2002-3 or so, almost no one even knew what I was talking about.
In all this time, I have had NOT ONE knife either fail or be returned.
Yes, regardless of the fitting I send the customer the proper tool to remove it. I also send extra pins or screws. So when someone buys a take-down knife from me, they basically get a kit!
If you do your job right, the knife will outlast them.
I love the idea of a "kit". I may try that. I also like the warranty warning.
BTW, do you send any instructions or drawings ?
