This is a nice article. Good questions and Zack's expressions were well thought out and reflects positively on bladesmithing.

I was very happy to accept Boston Art Life's invitation to be a Featured Artist; one of my many favorite aspects of being a knifemaker is that I get to help shepherd this craft forward and keep this beautiful (and vital) art form alive. As such, I'm very happy to have gotten this coverage, not just for myself but for the craft and for the community.

Anyway, I probably wouldn't know a thing about making knives if it wasn't for JD Smith (MS), who has been my mentor for a good while now. A great deal of credit is due to him, and not just for teaching me. In the four years I've known him, I've seen dozens of students come through his class and receive a top-notch introduction to the basics of bladesmithing. He is a fabulous teacher. My hat is off to him.

Thanks,

Zack

Congratulations Zack. Will we be seeing five knives in Atlanta next year? And yes, you do have a great teacher and mentor. I have admired J.D.'s work for a long time, and a really nice person too.

Hi Brion, sorry for the delay. Yessir, you will indeed see five knives in Atlanta. By the way, I love the "recurve bowie" you posted on British Blades. Very sweet.

Cheers,

Zack
