ABS Webmaster - Search for Volunteers

ABS Chairman Joe Kesslar has asked me to post an appeal for a volunteer or group of volunteers to take over my duties as ABS Webmaster. I am retiring from my duties with the ABS Website and related internet resources on October 31st.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to give back to the ABS and be actively involved in our mission. It is essential that we continue to maintain these internet assets which further our educational mission and serve both our members and the public around the world.

The internet services that I have administered as a volunteer include the ABS Website, Forum, ABS YouTube Channel, monthly Constant Contact Email newsletters, Pinterest, Twitter, ABS Webpage on the Blade Magazine website, Google Apps Educational Edition, and our 24/7 Telephone service. In an ideal situation we would ask someone to take on all of these duties as a volunteer but that may not be possible for one individual.

We are searching for a volunteer or group of volunteers to take on one or more of the above individual components of our internet services. The first on the list is to maintain the website itself and update events such as our hammer-ins and school schedules. Next is to continue our monthly Constant Contact Email Newsletters, administer our Forum, and so on through the list of our internet assets.

Since the ABS Website and our related internet services have been online the American Bladesmith Society and its educational programs have gained exposure in countries around the world. If you are interested in serving the ABS and administering one or all of these Internet services please contact either Dan Cassidy at [email protected], or one of our ABS Board members, click: ABS Board of Directors .

I want to publicly thank Dan for all the hard work and effort! Without him we would not have these forums, nor any of the "tech" that we enjoy, and sometime take for granted. I very much appreciate him, and although I understand his reasons, am sorry to see him leave this important position. THANK YOU DAN!!!

It is a rare individual and family that has the skills and means to donate the quality and quantity of specialized services Dan and Sally have contributed. One has to be either independently wealthy, excessively impassioned and/or extraordinarily service minded to make the kind of contributions they have. Thank you for your considerable development, creation and ongoing management of the cyberspace aspects of our community!

I'm crossing my fingers the transition goes fairly smoothly. Here's wishing you luck and good fortune in your other ventures!

Aloha and Mahalo, Phil
