Forgive me if I'm stepping out of line, but I'm on a few other knife forums and have seen notices that a long standing Mastersmith and friend of mine Wayne Goddard has passed from this life. I knew him briefly back in the 90's and did some ball bearing forging and testing with him when he would come out to ED Fowlers ranch,,,just wondering if the news was true. Wes

I too have heard this bad news. If it is the case it is entirely appropriate for you to bring it here Wes, so that we may pay our respects and grieve the loss of one of our longtime fellow smiths.

I'm so sorry to hear this as well. I've communicated with Wayne in years past. He was always forthcoming with information and encouragement. His manner of teaching was easy to understand and practical which is reflected in his writings.

Unfortunately true Wes. The knife community has lost a another legend. Wayne was always willing to help, even with newbie questions. I am sure a lot of makers started out with his books and reading his articles in Blade. Rest in peace Wayne and I will ring the anvil for you.
