I am trying to help a friend in Thailand find out who is known for this statement, the gist of which is: "Your knife is a mirror of your spirit." In translation, it might be:
"Your knife (work?) is a reflection of who you are."
It is thought to be an ABS member whose work is well known. While I certainly agree with the sentiment, I personally don't know who said this and would like to help him find out. Thank you for considering this.
Did I not just see this in conversation recently? It seems like someone quoted it on Facebook.
Weird.
I don't know the answer.

I'm guessing it originating in art.
So, since all true art depicts the artist's mind, mirrors and reflections are bound to play a highly significant role

Nick Wheeler?
I just think it has been revised from something in another field.
A person could probably put anything in place of the word "knife".
And probably did.

Thanks for the response.
Actually Lin, I believe I have seen something very similar in my Japanese sword books. I belive it goes "the sword reflects the swordmakers spirit or soul", hence the sword is the soul of the samurai. You might check Miyamoto Musashi's "Book of Five Rings"
