So this morning I was in the shower when Karen poked her head in and said that when I got out I needed to return a call to the Washington Post. “What now!” I said and continued grumbling as I grabbed a towel. We had to be to my in-laws in like half an hour so I decided to get the call back taken care of. The reporter was a very nice lady who explained the civilized world was all abuzz about the new Star Wars trailer and at the center of come controversy was a cross guard made of the same plasma stream as the light sabre blade. I was oblivious to all of this so all I had to go on was the reporters description of this concept as she got my thoughts on the same. All the while I am thinking the same thought I have found myself mulling many times in the past, being a bladesmith/swordsmith can take you to some really interesting situations in your life! Here I am, a hick from Michigan, being interviewed by a major newspaper about Star Wars, how does that happen?

Anyhow tonight Karen has already been contacted by folks about this on FB –

Life is just too much fun sometimes!

Great job Kevin! Your expertise has become nationally known and it is a real compliment.

I will have to call you for advice before I start making my first light saber. LOL.

This is the link to the movie trailer with the new light saber, click:

I saw that and thought, who better to ask? I was wondering though Kevin, what would be the soak time for a plasma light saber? All kidding aside, very neat.

Okay,

Now we need to get together and have them put Kevin in a Star Wars film forging/making a light saber.

The Master Jedi sword smith.

Way too cool.

Dave from Diller

P.S. Following the Stars Wars lore to become a Jedi you were required to construct your own light saber. Sounds similar to becoming a JS or a MS. Hmm Hmm.

Next thing ya' know you'll be moving to Hollywood to be a consultant on blockbuster movies.

I can see it now. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//cool.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
