I am saddened to tell you that Master Smith Phillip W. Kretsinger, Jr of Boonsboro, Maryland has passed away. I have attached a copy of the obituary that appears in the Daily American newspaper. There is a link to the Osborne Funeral Home for Online condolences in the article below.

Philip Warren Kretsinger Jr., 60, of Bakersville Road, Boonsboro, Md., died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at his home.

Born Dec. 23, 1950, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of E. Joan Martin Kretsinger of Williamsport, Md., and the late Philip Warren Kretsinger Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea Sarah Eighenbrode Kretsinger, on Oct. 15, 2008.

He was a 1968 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md.

During most of his working life he enjoyed being a locksmith and carpenter.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport.

He was a member of Potomac Fish & Game Club, Williamsport; Conococheague Tribe 84 IORM, Williamsport; Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport; American Bladesmith Society; and Boy Scouts of America Troop 58, Downsville, Md.

He was an avid outdoorsman, beekeeper, blacksmith, bladesmith and artist.

Survivors include, besides his mother, daughter, Jennifer M. Snook, and her husband, Todd C., of Williamsport; daughter, Catherine D. Kretsinger of Baltimore; son, Seth G. Kretsinger and his wife, Juliana, of Martinsville, Ind.; sister, Cindy K. Harrison of Charlotte Hall, Md.; grandchildren, Ella, twins Leah and Andrew, Garrett and Grant; several nieces and nephews; and best friend for many years, Nancy E. Palmer of Williamsport.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport, on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin officiating. Burial will be private.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown MD 21742.
