Passing Of Larry Harley, Journeyman Smith

I have the task of telling you the sad news that Journeyman Smith Larry Harley pass away yesterday morning on Sunday, February 12th. Our thoughts and prayers are for his family and many friends.

As soon as we receive more information about arrangements either Cindy or I will post it.

Obituary for Journeyman Smith Larry Harley by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home

"Larry Wayne Harley, 66, of Bristol, Tenn. passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, B.L.”Pap” and Alice Harley.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Bristol. He was a Master Bladesmith and Mason and was the owner of Lonesome Pine Knives. He loved teaching kids and wounded warriors. He was the chair of ABS Youth Program and was involved with the Wounded Warriors Project. Larry starred in the TV show National Geographic “Lords of War”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kristine; sons, Richard and Nicholas Harley; goddaughters, Sarah and Julia Denton; aunts, uncles, cousins both Holbrook and Harley family; and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home in Bristol, Tenn. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Steve Playl officiating. The committal and inurnment service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 or at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Arrangements especially for Mr. Harley and his family have been made through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory."
