Mike Synder who is a former ABS member and a friend of Maurice Hunt was in contact with Cindy Sheely and I today. Maurice has been a member of the American Bladesmith Society since 1998 and earned his Journeyman Smith stamp in 2001. Matthews Funeral Home has posted an obituary on their website, Click: Maurice Hunt, JS

Most often when instructing at the schools we make friends during the class, I had the honor of calling Maurice my friend before we got to spend time together at the Arkansas school and will always cherish the memories made there with him and Mike and was saddened to find the news this morning when I got home. We have lost a good friend and a good knifemaker. Maurice once had a bad experience affecting his health from hunting in altitudes not friendly to him, I am certain he is now doing fine in a much greater altitude that welcomed him with open arms.

Until we meet again my friend.
