I am saddened to tell you that Houston Price passed away early this morning, December 29, 2014. I just spoke to Nancy Hendrickson and she said that no plans have been made yet. I will update you later when plans have been made.
He was a true gentleman and I enjoyed working with him on our Board. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends at this time.
Charles Houston Price of New Market, Tennessee was a graduate of Kentucky's Berea College. After a tour of duty in the U. S. Marine Corps, he pursued a twenty-year career in agricultural marketing. In 1998, he was named to the ABS's Board of Directors and served on our Board until several years ago. He was also the Director of the ABS Youth Program until last year.
He was a publisher of Knife World, wrote a number of cutlery related articles for that and other publications, was the author of six editions of The Official Price Guide to Collector Knives and, along with B. R. Hughes, authored the book Master of the Forge. He was a recipient of the American Bladesmith Society’s Don Hastings award, a member of the International Cutlery Hall of Fame, and the American Bladesmith Society's Hall of Fame.
