Many of you know that I've been building a new shop for so long that I hate to still call it "new". But parts of it are new. So here are a few photos of the latest additions that have been planned all along.

The primitive side has seen progress in that the new forge has been laid up. The brick are antique and I included a few special brick in the mix.

One of the above brick is from the Moran forge in Old Washington, one is from my high school that was demolished many years back, and the other is from the museum where I work.

Here is the forge just after I swept up after the brick was laid.

The chimney

The view from the house

I also got my water heater in and the sink situated. I'll try to post a few more pictures as time permits. I'm just getting to where the entire project is looking like a shop and you can tell what my intentions are going to be.

Here is the sink area. Not fancy but plenty usable.

Very nice. I like the idea of putting the forging area outside of the main shop. While my primary work is at the forge, the actual area I need to forge is small and keeping the rest of the shop away from the forge would help with keeping the rest of the shop clean.

Thanks!

Gerald, I have a couple of gas forges and a power hammer in that area where the sink is. I'm separating them because the primitive area will have mostly older type equipment. It'll likely smoke a little too.

I'll post more photos as I see the opportunity. There's still yard work to be done and grass to grow and fill in the bare areas where the dirt was disturbed.

Great shop!

I am still doing the corner of garage thing, but some day the Brinks truck will back up into my drive with alll my lotto dollars and I will add on.

Some fun details on the window shutters!
