I got to go to my first knife show yesterday (Rocky Mountain show in Boise, ID) and boy did I learn a lot. I was only there as a customer but had a great time actually getting to handle knives from some amazing makers. The interesting thing to me was the makers made the show, not the knives. By that I mean several took the time to talk with me and answer a whole lot of "new guy" type questions. Bruce Bump, Ed Caffrey, Mike Quesenberry, Bill Burke, Erik Fritz and more all shared freely with me. The most consistent thing I've found in the ABS is the sharing of knowledge from some of the most well known makers all the way down to the hobbyist apprentices. Thanks to all of you who so willingly share ideas and techniques. I'd be so much further behind where I am now if not for the help from those who've gone before. I can't wait to get to some ABS hammer ins and hopefully classes someday.

Jeremy,

I too enjoyed the show. I was too rushed to meet everyone that I wanted to but then again I met a lot of great folks that I didn't know prior to the show who are incredible knife makers and just plain good people.

Just curious where you are in SW Idaho. I just moved to Boise this summer and have made some great contacts in this area. If you ever get to Boise let me know and maybe we can get together and share some thoughts.

That'd be great, Rick-I'm just down the road from you if you're in Boise. I'll see if I can't send you a message on here.

Jeremy

I remember our conversation and the expression on your face. It was like a kid coming down the stairs on Christmas morning. I had that same expression when I went to my first ABS show in Reno six years ago. I was surrounded by all these amazing makers and knives on their tables. I had so many questions and like you was blown away with their willingness to share. That's when I knew this was an organization I wanted to be a part of. It was a pleasure meeting you.
