As we have all learned today, a catastrophic EF5 tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma this afternoon. The thoughts of our close ABS family immediately turned in that direction and I received a call from Steve Culver who could not reach Brion Tomberlin who lives in Norman, Oklahoma which is the next town away from Moore. I was able to reach Brion on his cell phone and he and Diane and their home escaped the damage from this devastating tornado. Time for a prayer of thanks!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Brion and Diane Tomberlin are safe. In addition, our thoughts and prayers for the families that were so tragically affected.

Dan,

Thanks for the updates. I have already said a prayer for all those affected and those in harms way! Looks like this pattern is set up and going to continue for the next few days!

Just want to add a thank you to everyone and thankfully we are safe. Moore is devastated with around 30 square miles destroyed. The tornado is probably going to be rated as an EF5 and totally wiped out neighborhoods. Say prayers and good thoughts for the people affected, they need all the help they can get. If you want to help there is the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. Thank you all again and thank you for being my friends.

It was a terrible storm. My daughter lives there. She had fled her apartment and went to stay with a friend. The brief cell call we had before her phone batt. died was that she was ok; The friends house was damaged badly and her car is still a question under the collapsed garage but she was not injured other than stepping on a nail getting out of the house. Her apartment is still a question, she will try to find out today the extent of damage.

As of last night no one was allowed in but emerg. personnel.

Brion had tried to call me just after the storm but his cell was cut off too.

We were south of it here but have been under tornado watches for the last few days. the weather has not been kind this spring.

It is hard to express how bad we feel for those people who lost family in Moore.

Butch and I are keeping all affected in our prayers. So good to hear of the safety of those we know and as well as those we do not. There is also a lot of work ahead for all of them.

I'm glad to hear that you and your wife are okay Brion, and your daughter is safe Mike! I was just down in Oklahoma and me and my class did service for a local church group. The devastation is unreal, and I couldn't believe the destruction caused by this tornado. There are local church groups that can use help to feed and shelter those affected, and also the Salvation Army and Red Cross can use donations and support as Brion mentioned. All of the residents affected are in me and my families prayers.

For official State of Oklahoma information on how to donate to the tornado recovery, see http://www.ok.gov/okstrong/Donation_Information/index.html. It lists a variety of charities and other organizations accepting donations of money, goods, and services.
