Any idea if these are old knives? The folder looks like some kind of kit but I dont really know.Old Smokey is the only mark on them.

Depends on your definition of old. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> I'd say early '90's. Old Smokey is a knife company that has their knives made in Pakistan. The bottom one is a copy of an old Buck Kalinga. Some of their older knives were made with German steel, so they may be decent knives. Is the blade stamped with any other information?

Not that I know of. It was posted on a trade forum. The little I could find said the same thing, made in Pakistan. And I guess a better question is are they worth anything, not are they old. But I think that has been decided with the Pakistan stamp. thanks guys.

Hi Michael;

Good to see you here.

Did you ever get that big chopper lined out? Did it cut? Started on the next one yet?

As far as being worth some serious $$$, no. But could they be good servicable knives? Yes. Some of the older Pakistan knives were made with good steel and perform very well considering the price. A lot of people see the "Pakistan" on the blade and assume the knife is worthless not knowing that there has been some good stuff come out of there.

Ahh okay thanks for the info Cheyenne.

Hiya Mike. I've been trying to get the rest of life in order so I can get a shop going. I got my forge built and it gets steel up to heat nicely. I keep wanting to sit down and finish the chopper but I haven't made the time yet. I'm pretty sure its going to cut fantastic after what I saw it do in your backyard!
