I have two, 1-2 mm spots of corrosion on a blade I've already epoxied a guard and handle material on. They are about halfway down the blade next to the edge. They likely occurred when I was etching in the vicinity a few days prior despite it being wrapped in a towel and set well aside.
It's finished at 800 grit and I was hoping this one might pass as a journeyman presentation knife. I'm afraid sanding will leave marks. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
Steve, first, if it's from the acid, neutralizing the acid would be the thing to do. Then devise a way of holding the handle steady while you very carefully go over the hand sanding. If you are careful, you only need to sand the flats and stay off the spine and ricasso. Be glad the spots are in a relatively easy area to deal with.
Will give it a go, thanks!
