Hello Fine Knife Making Friends!
Anyone in the New England/NY area have an old belt grinder they'd be willing to sell...or even rent for a month? Even one without a motor would do.
I'm off for the summer and visiting the "old homestead" in southern NH. No interfering job/work for a month! (Just family visits and a few repairs on Dad's and Mom's house.) Have managed to round up an anvil and put a forge together. Got the heat treat oil and hand tools. Just need to grind now.
THANKS for your consideration!
Aloha, Phil
Where abouts in NH will you be Phil?
Merrimack. (I'm already here.) And you?
Dublin
Got any idea if anyone in the area might have a grinder that needs dusting off?
Hey Phil, I don't have an old grinder I can spare, but you're welcome to come up and use mine some. I'm probably about 45 minutes to an hour from you, up 89.
And don't think I've forgotten that I owe you a little something...

I am about 45 minutes west of you right off 101, you're also welcome to swing over this way and use mine. I'd be happy to have you by to get some shop time.
It's a bit on the cluttered and rustic side though when compared to Zack's in particular but it works.
Mostly. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//cool.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
Thanks guys!
I might take you up on those offers. Just getting settled with the folks. Looks like Dad has a bit more work for me than I anticipated and Mom has quite a "tourist" itinerary laid out for us. Hope I get some time to play at bladesmithing too. I'll be in touch.
Aloha, Phil
Phil:
I have a 42" x 2" sitting here doing nothing since I built my 72". Your welcome to take that for as long as you want. I have some belts that you can take also, I'll have to check and see whats out there. If you want to arrange to get it this week somehow that would be fine and I'll be at N.E. Hammer-in also.
I'm in north eastern mass, probably an hour from Merrimack.
Thanks David. I managed to round up one of those too. Platen isn't flat, so will see what I can do with it. See you Maine! –Phil
