Hey folks,

I am working with a partner to turn out some axes/tactical axes for a project. How thick do you think I should leave the edge of an axe before I convex the final edge? Original material thickness is 1/4-3/8"

Respectfully

I cannot speak from experience as I have only done the one.  But, the customer was quite happy with it.  I treated it much like chopping knife.  pre heat treat, the edge was about the thickness of a dime.  then for the final edge I did a 25(ish) degree apple seed grind.  My thought was that these arent splitting hatches, but intended more for tactical use.
