Ribbon Burner

The discussion of ribbon burners has come up several times and I feel as thought I can contribute. Coming from the blacksmithing end of knifemaking, and using what I have tried and consider the most efficient use of fuel, ribbon burners, imho, by far exceed pipe burners in heat and fuel conservation. Although pipe burners were used by glass blowers in the '60's',and were easy to make, they came to realize that scale from the steel was getting into their glass, so a better way was conceived, ie, the ribbon burner.

My neighbor, a glass blower, introduced me to them and showed me how to build them. You can buy them, or make your own. I prefer the latter...just because that's how I work, or am hard headed.

The NWBA still has the tutorial (thanks Justin), and ABANA in the Hammers Blow should have it also.
