This has been a long time coming. I am finally getting my equipment setup at my new house. I have been here about 2 years now in this new house and it's a really nice house and a superb location. I still have to bring some shop tables over so in the mean time I got creative. One thing that really sucks about this is the height. It is way to low down so I am going to put that on a stand, table or something like that.

My driveway and front yard. Not your typical front yard by no means. Between the barnyard geese, Canadian geese and the various ducks it can be very distracting often. The beauty of living next to a park.

Since I no longer have the tree stump for an anvil stand <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//sad.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I had to make me one, this is what I came up with so far.

4x4's in a hatch formation. The top middle is not bolted down yet and I will need to add some anchoring for the anvil itself. BTW this is a NC Tool co short sugar anvil, 70 pounds.

The pyrometer I just built and will be uploading a pdf on how I made it soonish.

Hey Ed,

Lookin' good! Sometimes I wonder if I spend more time settin' up my shop and making tools than I do making knives <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//laugh.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> You say you "made" that pyrometer? <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//cool.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> Please tell us more...

Ed,

That set up looks like it will do for now.

Your forge looks like the ceramic wool blanket has not been coated with any refractory in the picture. If this is true please coat the wool with Satanite or your choice of refractory before using it. This will protect your lungs from the ceramic fibers that will come off when the forge is in use if the wool is left uncoated.

Mike
