Hi,
I added Silicon Carbide ...600 grit to a homemade Hard Felt Wheel.
It is in the solution used to make the wheel. It can be added in a compound on the outside of the wheel
along with a White rouge
The Silicon Carbide adds a little bite for the FINAL sharpening step.
It works GREAT !!
It is on the bottom of this page
Nothing For Sale
You can buy Hard Felt wheels but please note they are manufacture and do not use the same material/recipe
I tested the added Silicon Carbide by sharpening an ATS-34 blade Rc-60/61
Ready for normal sharpening dull/ .015" thick
UPDATE: If you start to sharpen the knife you use the clean whhel.
What you are doing is using the 600 grit to sharpen the knife.
Then apply white rouge to the same wheel to completey remove the feather edge....Just tried it
UPDATE 2...Remove white rouge with 36 grit used piece of a 2" X 72" grinding belt.
Just take belt and hand rip it apart in pieces and back it with a hard block and press it against the wheel...cleans it !!
UPDATE 3:
Hard Felt DUAL system added...
Honing and stropping wheel
