Thanks guys.

Working towards the stamp really means, for me, working towards a standardized method for the process.

This is one of the struggles.

I'm comfortable that this finish is in the ball park.

Now to fit. HEHE.

JJ,

I spoke with Kevin Cashen at the knife show up here last weekend and asked him about plunge cut polishing. He suggested Cratex tips on a flex shaft to get in close. Im going to be trying it next time I get a blade to that point. Might be helpful to you.

Regarding the polish up for the grinds, I typically go from a 60 grit up to 120 then a gator belt... I forget which grit I have... then on to progressively finer Scotchbrite belts before hand finishing. I usually start the hand polish at 220 or near that, take up to 320 before HT then after HT polish off with a super fine scotchbrite after degrease. After temper Ive been using stones up to 12K then doing a once over with some 1500 grit paper. ( i know, this is jumping around on the grits and kinda backwards) I prefer a satin finish over a mirror so thats my goal when I do this

Ive only used stones on 3 blades so far but I find it gets them pretty flat and the polish up after is pretty quick, though Im far from the best at the grinding so Im enjoying this thread as well.

Hope that helps!
