W.F. Moran Award Requirements for 2012
The competition knife for the 2012 W. F. Moran Award is a Bowie Camp Knife patterned after the one illustrated on page 117 of the "Master of the Forge" book. The blade should be forged of carbon steel, at least 10" blade, a curly maple handle featuring silver wire inlay work. Note that this style of Moran camp knife features a guard similar to those found on most hunting knives. There is no requirement for a sheath, as only the knife will be judged.
Judging will take place on Friday June 8th at 10 a.m. in Room 104 at the 2012 Blade Show in Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Center.

Thanks Dan. I appreciate it
I believe we have this original knife in the Historic Arkansas Museum on display. It's good to be able to see it in person.
Congratulations to my good friend and mentor, Tim Potier M.S. for winning the 2012 Moran award. I was privilaged to take pictures of this beautiful camp knife the day before Tim left for Atlanta. Congrats Tim!
And this is my second post here on the forum, I have already learned a ton of info here!

Eric,
Do you have a photo of the winning knife that you could post here? I'd like to see it if you do.
