Dear Membership:

For the Blade Show in Atlanta, August of 2020, the ABS will not conduct any business this year. We will not be judging for rank, no awards ceremony. We are sorry to do this, the entire board of directors is in agreement with me and in the words of our last founding member of the ABS, B. R. Hughes “Things in the forthcoming near future are too clouded to make sound decisions. However, if we err, let us err on the side of caution. There is nothing that might happen if the ABS if it does not participate in any manner at the forthcoming Blade Show in August -- that is, if that does transpire. Nothing is worth risking the health of a single ABS member or a member of his or her family by exposing them to COVID-19.

We are looking at alternatives for judging later in the year, but we hate to get hopes up, nothing is set, nothing is concrete, but if we can do something we will advise if we are sure and have secured all details.

During this time of quarantine, we never did find that crystal ball we needed. Things are starting to open slowly across the country, but with restrictions.

We hope everyone stays healthy and keeps on forging.

Steve Dunn

ABS Chairman

Anyone that has a table at Blade Show received the below message. Some of our members and in particular our guys wanting to be judged for JS may not have a table, so I am sharing this with all.

SHOW INFO

An Important Update About BLADE Show

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work on a final decision for the BLADE Show. We have been working with multiple partners throughout the decision making process while also monitoring daily what is going on specifically as it relates to COVID-19.

Updated Options for BLADE Show 2020

We sincerely thank all the exhibitors who participated in our survey regarding a possible date change. The response and feedback was overwhelming and we appreciate your input.

Upon further discussion with all our partners, we feel moving the date back three weeks will put more strain on exhibitors and attendees in regards to flight changes, hotel reservation changes, etc.

Please note, prior to sending out the date change scenario survey, we had already inquired about Show dates in later months, and the Cobb Galleria has nothing available.

Within the next couple of weeks, we will make a final decision on whether we host the show on its regularly scheduled dates or cancel completely.

Reminder: once a final decision is made, you will receive notice through official communication channels from Show Management. We are aware that there is a lot of miscommunication circulating at this time. Therefore, please make sure your source of information is solely from Show Management.

Refunds

Should a cancellation be imminent, we will provide an updated refund policy at that time.

Hoping For The Best

Like the rest of the nation, we encourage everyone to stay home and stay safe. It is our hope that the Show will take place and give the knife community something to look forward to!

Thank you for your continued support of the BLADE Show!

That was from the Blade Show team and it is all I know.

Sincerely,

BLADE Show Management

Sadly, as a result of the uncertainty, I have decided to postpone and only submit my JS presentation knives in 2021. The costs of traveling, accommodation etc as wel as the terrible covid-19 situation and with our currency being 17:1 I will have to wait for Blade 2021 the lord willing.

Bless you all
