As you have seen, I have some weird ideas when it comes to using blacksmith techniques and I want to share this in case you may want to play around with it. I posted this knife earlier:
Now I have made a small dagger using this technique.
The tang rivet is square so as to prevent the handle from ever turning. There are two round rivets forward.
I have several different configurations in mind to make with no end of the possibilities. I hope this will encourage anyone who would like to make these to do so. It is a great exercise in finish forging and material management, and can turn out a very sturdy and usable knife.
Beautiful dagger Mr. Rhea. Very unique, clean and smooth. Thank you for sharing.
Did you make the handle out of the same material as the blade? Thank you.
Thanks Ronald.
No, I used a piece of mild steel 3/8 round to forge the handle strap.
Lin, those are great. Love to see blacksmith knife making techniques.

Thank you Joshua.
Very nice Lin. I like seeing how you bring smiting into your bladesmithing. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Chris.
Those are just too cool.
Bet they'd look sweet wrapped with leather strips.

I agree Karl. No end to the options and most are simple to accomplish. If you wrapped it, you'd have to allow for the wrap thickness when forming the frame.
Those are beautiful Lin. I have a great appreciation for the looks of these knives, but an even greater appreciation for the imagination that went into these and skill in their creation.
Thanks for sharing -- I gotta make me one of these <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Those are too cool, Lin. Bet you'll never have to answer the question "is this forged or stock removal" with one of these
Here is a fresh forged Bowie I call X-Rhea made with a full forged integrated handle. The rivet is on bottom. The OAL is 15 inches.
Cool Bowie. Clever name <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Got it done. Thanks.
