I know there are few examples of historic Chinese weapons outside the terracotta warrior statues which have real weapons with them and yielded some fascinating information on the manufacturing of Chinese weapons. and really it has to be called manufacturing because the iron and salt trade in China was run by the state. I know the reason artifacts were rare till these statues were unearthed is that after the fall of the chariot nobility of china and the rise of Confucianism, soldiers were on the same level of social status as peasants thus weapons regardless of there beauty were relegated to scrap metal (wipes a tear away from the eye). however, what is a good book or books to learn more about classical Chinese weapons? China was the most powerful country in the world until the victorian age, yet there is so little published about there weapons as I have tried looking on Amazon for some books but can't find a thing dedicated to Chinese weapons.
Hi Kevin,
Maybe you should look for museum catalogs, I would like to think the Chinese have a ton of these stuff on display in there country. I did a quick search and found https://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/objects?&exhibitionId=%7b5ff35777-f859-45c9-83f6-b029566c47a3%7d
There are a couple of weapons on the first page.
Good luck.
