Hey All!
I just joined the forum and figured I'd post some of my work. I've been learning bladesmithing for about two years through classes and within the last year have finally been able to start working on some of my own work.
Here are the four knives I've completed to date, in order of completion from top to bottom. Details are below.
This is the first knife I completed as part of a class. It's an 80CrV2 hidden tang chef knife and the handle is stabilized birdseye maple with micarta. 8" blade, 13" OAL. I don't have a better picture from when it was completed, unfortunately, so this photo shows it with a patina that has developed with about a year and a half's worth of use.
This knife was part of a class as well. 80CrV2 full tang hollow ground camp knife and the handle scales are inset canvas micarta with peened brass pins. 6" blade, 10" OAL. There are oxide colors on the heel as I let the heat creep too much when I was softening the tang to drill pins, unfortunately. I left them as a monument to failure of sorts.
This knife was forged by my teacher as a demonstration piece during my first class and I finished it. 80CrV2 hidden tang chef knife with a birdseye maple handle, damascus spacer, and faux ivory bolster. 9" blade, 14" OAL.
This is the first knife I have completed start to finish by myself. 1075 full tang chef with my first go at a hamon, white paper micarta scales and peened nickel silver pins on the handle. 7.5" blade, 12" OAL.
I've had a tremendous amount of fun making each of these and I'm learning so much with each one. My shop time is limited as I don't have my own space, but I hope to be producing work more regularly over the next year.
My first forged blade. In the morning I’m getting started on a small bearded axe using a railroad spike. Excited to get more into this craft and to meet some of you fellow smiths
Good day all, just wanted to share a photo of my first completed knife. It’s a camp Bowie in 52 layers of random Damascus, 1084/15n20 with a mild steel guard and redheart handle. Thanks for looking!
Blade I made a couple years ago. Didn’t get much shop time last year due to the virus, had to help my kids with virtual. I’m upping my game this year!
This is one I made for my son, its not been sharpened in this photo since I hadn't finished the sheath (I never sharpen them until everything is done... I don't need any hospital visits) . The blade is forged from 5160 with carbon fiber scales, stainless pins and the finish is Belgium Blue.

That is a slick looking blade!

I have been making knives part-time for about 7 years now. Smithing for 4. Most of my blades are now forged, except when a user specifically wants stainless. I changed my logo from a symbol about 2 years ago to be something that wouldn't be cryptic.
That head knife is slick! Those are hard as heck to grind 🤣

My latest. Very proud but it is riddled with little flaws that drive me crazy up close.
It’s much larger than most I’ve made. I did a practice run using mild steel then made with 80CRV2. I use cut down rifle casings for lanyard pins. Handle is just layered G10.
I find the most frustrations for me come on the grinder - I continue to attempt to refine my grinds and seek symmetry - this one actually came out great (for me).
Complete newbie and self taught from youtube and tv lol. Looking forward to growing as a maker and honing my skill the more I make. I have finished 2 and working on my 3rd. First is a hunter style stock removal from 1080 steel, 2nd is a kitchen knife also stock removal from 1080, 3rd is what I'm currently working on. It's hand forged from 5160.
Pic is what I'm currently working on.
Second complete knife finished, much better than my first, that turned into a banana. 1084, with homemade mokume gane bolster and G10 handle. Did an edge quench, and etched in ferric chloride.
