Uncle Al Hosts Cub Scout Troop 54 at 2nd Thursday Meeting
Al & Sheila Lawrence graciously host a meeting of bladesmiths at Riverside Machine in DeQueen, Arkansas, the second Thursday of each month.
This past Thursday October 13th Uncle Al had a special meeting and hosted Cub Scout Troop 54. The demonstrators were, Mike Williams, MS and Gordon Graham, JS. Gordon forged a hunting knife blade for the Cub Scouts and Mike Williams did a Bowie Knife Design demo. Al provided a nice Mexican Tamale dinner and the ABS members in attendance introduced themselves and did a show and tell about their work in progress that they had brought with them and was displayed on the table. There was a door prize drawing and one of the Cub Scouts won the pocket knife as pictured below. Al Lawrence then gave a pocket knife to every Cub Scout in attendance. Thank you Uncle Al!
There were several ABS Mastersmiths and Journeymen in attendance at the meeting including JR Cook, Mike Williams, Roger Massey, Charles Stout, Lin Rhea, Mike Ruth Sr, and Wes Davis.
The Thursday night meetings usually kick off with a bell ring and dinner, introductions and then the demos start. The meetings usually go from 5:30pm to about 8:00pm.

I wish my scout troop would have visited Uncle Al's when I was a kid!
