This year's hammer-in will be held on Sept 28/29 once again at The Shepherd of the Hills Farm in Branson. Many have still to designate what their demos will be this year. Those that I know of so far include:

Jim Crowell--basic bladesmithing

Brion Tomberlin--seminar on knife design(s)

(He also stated that he would grind all that Crowell forges. We'll see who is the most expedient.<img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> )

Steve Culver--

1) fluted handles with wire inlet

2) handles for a San Francisco style Bowie

Ray Kirk--making tongs

Jim Krause--handle scale carving

The demos are always continuous both days often with two going at a time. I will try to update the demos as people let me know what they want to demonstrate.

Thanks,

Gary Mulkey

Here are a few photos from last year:

Jerry Lairson giving a satin blade finish demonstration.

Jim Crowell forging a knife.

Brion Tomberlin giving a hamon tutorial.

The cutting competition.

Thanks, Allen.

I appreciate the photos. This year Jerry has let me know that he will be demo'ing silver wire inlet (flat wire). With Steve will be doing a round wire inlet demo that should cover the bases very well for wire inlet. I'm looking forward to hearing Brion's knife design ideas as well. That is something that I don't do a lot of since I often will design as I go and it will be nice to hear a master's thoughts on it.

We will have a couple of celebrity guests this year as well. It should make for a fun weekend. I'm looking forward to it.

No problem. In talking with Brion Tomberlin this weekend he mentioned the possibility of doing a demo on finishing a blade to reveal the hamon. Which I would love to see.

I was asked by a couple of people about doing a demo/talk on bringing out the hamon on a blade. So if we can fit it in I would be glad to do it. Some really good demos lined up, this is going to be a good weekend. Celebrity guests??? Gary. Got my curiosity going now.

I haven't been able to make it to any of Gary's previous hammer-ins. So, I'm looking forward to being there this year!!
