For various reasons, The Branson Hammer-In be held at a new location next year. Tom McGinnis (Ozark Knifemakers) has volunteered the use of his shop for the event. In my opinion, this is a big step in the right direction for the event.
Tom has a very large & nicely equipped shop that he uses for his knife classes which will work much better for the hammer-in demos. (We will set up a tent just outside of the shop for the accompanying knife show.) The shop includes multiple forges, anvils, a Little Giant hammer as well as a 50 ton press and numerous grinders. The facility & equipment there will allow us to demo many additional knife making skills including Damascus making which wasn't available before.
Tom has asked that the event name be changed to: "The Gary Mulkey Hammer-In". I was quite humbled and honored by the gesture. I will remain as the event promoter with Tom as the host. The current plan is to hold a banquet on the premises (with knife judging) on Friday night with the hammer-in & knife show being on Saturday (Sept. 9).
I'm excited that the event is taking a step forward. I hope that you can be a part of it.
Gary
