Tough for me to figure where on the site best to put this. Anyone with other ideas on that, holler at me please.
2016 versions of the Blade Forum Hunter and Bowie threads:
I've watched these two threads and voted, but never posted a knife picture (though I intend to do it this year). I always wonder why more knives aren't posted. Yeah, the sub-forum is a small world... yeah, a lot of makers don't have professional pictures... yeah, it smacks of a contest and/or competition... yeah, some don't feel they should post their own work... yeah some other perceived negatives (maker dependent), maybe.
Me, I absolutely love looking at every knife posted in both the threads. I wish there were a lot more knife pictures posted. I'd feel the same about them. I don't care if the pictures are professionally derived. I don't care if there is a hand holding the knife in the picture. I just want to see more of them.
Little by little, over the years, it seems makers are posting more of their own work in these threads. I think that is good. To me, it's not a contest or competition at all... not at base. To me it's a venue for makers and owners to show a knife they are proud of, plain and simple.
If you have a picture of a knife that means something to you, you could post it in the threads... and I would thank you.
Mike
