Congratulations to the new rated ABS smiths. It is a difficult road.
Relax, take a breath and enjoy. Then; put your names in the hat for the drawing of MS or js knife of the year.
Some of the applicants work was not quite ready at this time. Do not be discouraged, many of us were not successful on our first attempt at this.
We look forward to seeing you in the near future.

There were some outstanding knives in that room. Congratulations to all the successful applicants.
But congratulations are in order for those who were not awarded their stamps this time around either. Simply going through the process of making the knives and presenting them to the judges is a significant effort that will make anyone a better knifemaker, regardless of the outcome. It takes a lot of hard work, courage, and resolve just to be in that room, and in my opinion any bladesmith who walks through those doors and places his work before the judges has earned the high respect of all his peers in the bladesmithing community.
I toast every one of you and hope to see you in Atlanta again next year.
Very true Derrick. Going through the process of making and submitting your knives is a serious decision and makes you focus on your work and skills. Probably one of the tougher things a knifemaker can do. It takes a lot of fortitude to place those knives on that table and have your hard work judged. Even if you do not make it you have learned a lot. You all also definitely have my respect.
And congratulations again Derrick, good work.
