Hi All, The California hammer-in, in Visalia,CA at the College of the Seqouias is right around the corner. I look forward to seeing you there for another great time. I think I have lined up a great schedule this year. With a surprise or two. Tom Ferry's damascus demo will be quite different than what you think. ( One of the surprises ) First time demonstrator David Lisch from Seattle will give you a whole new way of thinking about wrought iron and bronze. If you have ever wanted to watch a bowie made from start to finish with all the components my buddy Jim Rodebaugh is going to make it look easy. Bill Burke has promised me that one way or another we will have wootz by the end of the hammer-in. Bill has yet to let me down. Bill Herndon and Aaron Wilburn are going to cover both hard and soft sheaths. Henry Torres is going to finish it up with one of the easiest ways to hand finish a blade. Last but not least, the Godfather of the California clinic Red St.Cyr, is going to demo a hunter for the Green coal and get them started on the proper way to forge a blade. After all thats what this is all about. One last thing. We will be having lunch served both Friday and Saturday. Will also be having a BBQ Saturday night.
Hope to see you there

Hi Michael,
I am looking forward to this years hammer in. I am going to bring down some of the steel that we made last year and hopefully we will be able to forge some wootz also. There is a lot to learn and plenty to do so everyone should learn something.
Bill

Hi Folks I am looking forward to the hammer in I will show how I make a rolled in guard out of wrought iron how I fire etch and heat blue the wrought show some butt cap tricks and If there is time I will forge some bronze. The rest of the time I will spend learning as much as I can from this great lineup Mike has put together. I hope to see you there.
Ok guys,
I am going to cover as much info about making damascus as possible. From choosing steels to creating elaborate mosaic patterns. I will be mostly concentrating on understanding pattern development and seeing what is occurring inside the billet. I have only demonstrated this technique one time prior to this and it is sure to turn on some lights for all who participate. I look forward to meeting you all there and have a safe trip down.
