Below is a list of vendors who will be set up at this year’s Heartland Bladesmithing Symposium.

Caleb Royer will be offering his knife photography services, to anyone who wants him to take pictures of their knives.

Ron Richerson will have knifemaking supplies available.

May have a couple more vendors to add, after I hear back from them.

Well, with this event approaching fast, I wanted to give a little heads up of what I will be showing.

For the Damascus demo, we will be in the classroom showing how to develop different patterns, how to expose the patterns when they are on the end of the bar such as is the case of mosaics, and how to put all of this to practical use in your shop. The advantage of doing this demo in the classroom as opposed to the shop is that we will get to see patterns develop quickly as opposed to having to spending a lot of time gringing and heating billets in the shop.

For the engraving, I am going to start off with the basics and go from there. We will begin with the tools that you need and where to get them. My primary goal is to show you how you can get started with engraving without spending $5000 for equipment. I will show you how to set up a high quality zoom microscope (mine is an Olympus)for hundreds instead of thousands, how to prepare your tools, and how to design and cut your patterns. If you think you would like to start engraving, what I show you will get you well on your way without tthe huge investment that many seem to find necessary.

As with all the classes I teach, I would like to invite any questions or comments ahead of time. I am there for you and will show YOU what YOU want to see, just let me know.

Thanks

Brian
