Chris retired from Consumers Energy in 2017 after 38 years of working at the plant. Chris loved traveling, especially in his Mustang convertible, spending time at the farm or watching his bird feeders. Chris enjoyed playing golf and spending time on the Pottawattomie Bayou where he grew up and lived. He had a unique sense of humor and was a giving, caring and positive person. He was a true people’s person who will be missed very much by all how knew him. He was also an apprentice with the American Bladesmith Society and an Eagle Scout.
Chris was preceded in death by parents: Warren and Norma Bethke and brother Cevin Bethke. He is survived by his wife, Debra; stepdaughters, Angie Ness, and Amy (Corey) Whipple; grandchildren: Morgan, and Riley Ness, Mahala (Pascal) Paffhausen, and Ashton Burrous; brother, Craig Bethke; sister, Carla (David) Vink; nieces and nephews: Warren, and William (Ashley) Bethke, Clinton (Toni) Vink, Sarah (Eric) Hermann.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Covenant Life Church, 101 Columbus Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery.
